As we make our way through summer in Asheville and WNC, festival, concert, and event seasons are in full swing. Weekends are chock full of things to do and see. Here are some highlights to keep you going each week. Be prepared to check out some amazing artists, musicians, and communities!

July 6 Coon Dog Day Festival

Celebrate Coon dogs all day long at this annual festival in Saluda, North Carolina. Come out for the dogs, stay for the competitions, food, crafts, and music.

July 6  Shindig on the Green

Get on down to Pack Square for a traditional Southern Appalachian concert. The Shindig occurs yearly for several consecutive weekends and features The Stoney Creek Boys, Big Circle Mountain Dancers, cloggers, ballad singers, and storytellers.

July 12-14 Black Mountain Blues 

Make your way to Black Mountain for this brand-new blues festival featuring 46 acts throughout the town over three days.

July 13 Art in the Park in Downtown Blowing Rock 

Artists of varying mediums are featured in a special fine art show one Sunday each month from April through October. A jury selects different artists for each month. After each show, stick around for the monthly Concert in the Park.

July 19-20 North Carolina International Folk Festival

Folkmoot USA will host the North Carolina International Folk Festival in Canton and Waynesville. The festival, which features dancers, musicians, singers, and performers, will bring international and Appalachian culture to the masses.

July 20 Blackberry Festival at Ebbs Chapel in Mars Hill

Enjoy a local celebration of blackberries! In addition to tasting all the amazing things made with blackberries, visitors can check out the craft fair and rummage sale, enter the raffle, and stick around for a BBQ lunch and local music.

July 25-28 LovePlayShine
